If I had one hope at the time it would’ve been to have married a plumber, hopefully a 24 hour one. I called several plumbers, hoping someone could drive over to stop the 2:45 AM flood rising to my knees. The water was rising as my options lowered. This is the worst possible scenario for me. My home repair skills are non-existent, to say the least. Fortunately, I discovered a possible choice. The advertisement said “24 hour plumbing”. I quickly called and a real, live woman answered. Within the hour a plumber was at my house. He quickly fixed the leak. But the service didn’t stop there. The company is a bigger, local business that can help with almost any home maintenance issue. There was a long list of services I required, and now I knew the business was a honest one, I finally felt comfortable getting to them. The fact that it could all be done by one business made it so much easier. First I wanted to have all the HVAC work taken care of. This included air conditioner and heater repair. Then I paid for an electrician to get a few broken power outlets working again. Finally, I was so delighted with the previous plumber, I had him back to do some drain cleaning. It was among the hottest summers on record and my air conditioner was malfunctioning. I’d just bought a house with central air. So before, if I experienced any issues, I’d just purchase a new, cheap window unit. Not the most economical course of action but it enabled me to keep leading a care-free bachelor existence. But my life has changed. I now think of myself as somewhat of an adult, someone who dates real estate agents and folds my clothes, placing them neatly in drawers, as if I have some dignity. Trying to uphold this new lifestyle I couldn’t let my home to stay at such hot temperatures. I briefly considered keeping my refrigerator door ajar so I could enjoy the cold air as I watched TV from my kitchen. But I shouldn’t be doing. This is what the old me would’ve done while eating Gogurts and wishing they made bigger Easy Mac containers. The new me phoned a HVAC place. With my most professional voice I asked for some assistance. The guy came over quickly and had my air conditioner fixed even quicker. The guy informed me his company could fix a lot of other home-related things. They had electricians, plumbers, and furnace repairman ready 24 hours a day.
