Five People Dead in Federal Way Washington Police Still Investigating

Gun shots burst out in a neighborhood in Federal Way, Washington and five people were gunned down, including a suspect who was killed by arriving police, a department official told reporters on Monday.

At 9:30 PM, Sunday, police officers responded to a 911 call in Federal Way. Upon arrival the scene was anarchic, with gunshots being fired.

Immediately the police officers found wounded men when they initially came upon the scene. One of the individuals reached for a weapon as officers moved in to help the seriously hurt people, she said.

Officers responded by drawing their weapons and started shooting back. The suspect ended up dead but the police department stated officers weren’t totally certain if it was from their gunfire.

The other person on the pavement and a third man in the parking lot were found dead.

During a search of the complex, police discovered another dead man in one apartment and a slain woman in another residence. Police are looking into whether the woman wasstruck by a stray bullet.

Eight officers shot their guns, Schrock said. All have been placed on administrative suspension, following standard policy, as the investigation goes on.

Officers are still unsure of the cause of the shooting. Police scheduled a news briefing for late Monday morning. “We still don’t have any idea what started this disturbance tonight,” Schrock said. He said the they are still investigating and have scheduled a news briefing for late Monday morning.

Officers carried out a careful investigation of the apartments and are sure there were no more dead people from the gunfight or any more shooters on the loose.

All officers made it out without injury. The identities of the people killed have not been released.
